The Bahia Street annual study trip is designed to be both fun and educational as it introduces participants to Bahia, issues of international development, and people making a difference in their communities in and around Salvador. Participants explore themes related to education for equality, race, culture, and society in general. The trip allows participants to go “inside Bahia” and have an in-depth experience with the people and culture of Salvador and its environs.

Trip leaders: Melanie Wyffels (Bahia Street US board member who grew up in Brazil) and Rita Conceição (Director of the Bahia Street School).

The study trip consists of talks with local leaders, day trips to areas of interest near Salvador, and overnight trips into the Bahian interior. On non-field trip days, participants discuss and explore their experiences and have free time to enjoy the beaches and cultural sights of Salvador.
